While I Was Away...

Right around the time I was working to change the name of my business from Julie Clark Art to Wave and Willow (by Julie Clark Art), we dove into the world of understanding what a subarachnoid hemorrhage is, first hand. In "plain English", it's bleeding on the brain. No small matter, for sure! (You can read my original blog post about it all here: http://julieclarkart.blogspot.com/2012/04/where-heck-have-i-been.html on my other blog site, which I use primarily for Autism Spectrum Disorder/Asperger's and general life "stuffs".)

Thankfully, my husband is now 98% back to normal (which is no small miracle), and school is back in session, leaving me once again able to spend some time under the Willow, preparing for a busy fall season.

Thanks for stopping by - feel free to leave a comment to say, "hi"!

Wave and Willow, a Division of Julie Clark Art

Wave and Willow is a new division of Julie Clark Art, and also the name of Julie's Etsy shop. Julie is very excited about the name change as it more fully reflects not only her work, but her philosophy.

Living Tree - SOLD
Why "Wave and Willow"? As much as some of her totes truly are works of art, many are simply mod, colorful and, well, functional! "Art" may be a bit misleading for some, right? But there is another reason for the name change. As Julie works to open her website, there will be more to it than simply offering items for sale. There will also be a strong connection to increasing awareness of select causes (including Autism Spectrum awareness), as well as building community. There will be a chance for you to give back, as, from time to time, Julie will donate a portion of sales to named charities. It's a pretty large undertaking, but if you know Julie, you know she aims high!

But back to "Wave and Willow". "Wave" not only reflects the water, the ocean or a cool stream, but also how life ebbs and flows. "Willow" conjurs up all sorts of imagery, including taking a moment to rest or reflect, even rejuvenate by a soothing creek bed. Sometimes, we need to stop and sit "under the willow" to gather ourselves in order to push ahead, especially when an unexpected wave of life envelops us.

Curious as to how this will affect items she offers in her shop? Watch more more fashion forward eco-friendly accessories, such as cotton totes and coordinating cosmetic/pencil zip pouches. Fiber art also continues to take up residence, though most fine art will be offered offline until her website takes flight.

Thread Embellished Tote

Julie continues to be committed to eco-friendly practices, which is why her fine art pieces are seldom sealed. She is VERY picky about sealers, and most contain ingredients that are harmful to both us and the environment. Yes, embellishments, such as Swarovski crystal elements, metallic threads and more may be used while Julie continues to seek out earth friendly components. These are used sparingly when Julie feels a hint of sparkle is needed.

Welcome to Wave and Willow. Julie would be honored if you join her in this journey! Stop by and "like" her Facebook page (Julie Clark Art) for updates.
